Alchemy is a charming, minimal coffee shop in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. The owner's Japanese heritage informs the shop's aesthetic, which follows the principle of wabi sabi, the idea that there is beauty in things that are incomplete, imperfect, and impermanent. The hard-working owner is planning to build the space out into a full-service café—Alchemy is making big moves in 2018!
Sometimes you just want to get married and you want it documented and you don’t need a multimedia production about it. I’m an affordable, unobtrusive option for intimate ceremonies, elopements, City Hall things, and regular old cute couple photos.
I provided photography, social media, and marketing strategy for Starr Restaurant concepts in Philadelphia, New York, and DC.
The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation maintains dynamic public parks along the river, providing Philadelphians with innovative urban spaces in which to enjoy the seasons. DRWC hired me in 2018 to photograph various community events and public programming.
Members of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and allies from around the country converged in New York City from March 11-15, 2018, for a 5-day Freedom Fast. The major grassroots action was part of the national boycott against Wendy’s fast-food company, who refuses to join its industry leaders and competitors by participating in the Fair Food Program, a worker-led accountability system that has improved wages and job conditions for thousands of farmworkers. Photos from this series were published in a photo essay for the New Food Economy.
These photos were commissioned by ROOT restaurant + wine bar in Fishtown, Philadelphia. The eclectic, retro-chic spot is beautifully designed, with dynamic patterns and buttery textures at every glance.
These photos were commissioned by Keffa Coffee Importers, based in Baltimore. Keffa's strong relationships to exporters and farmers in various coffee-growing regions of Ethiopia provided access to some of the most beautiful mills and farms in Yirgacheffe, Sidamo, and Harrar. With their trademarked specialty coffees Ardi and YirgZ, Keffa is one of the most consistent and reliable sources of quality Ethiopian beans in the U.S.
In addition to these photos, Keffa commissioned reports on each farm and mill visited. I worked with translators to interview two mill employees for each visit (8 mills in total). For more info about my approach to documentary photography and writing, please send me an email.
Through 2015 & 2016, I served as La Colombe Coffee Roaster's full-time Social Media Coordinator.
